The pineal gland (also called the pineal body, epiphysis cerebri, epiphysis or the “third eye”) is a small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain. It produces the serotonin derivative melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns and seasonal functions.
Studies show your pineal gland secretes a substance called Dimethyltriptamine (DMT), which you may be familiar with as a hallucinatory substance found in the South American shamanic brew called Ayahuasca.
The pineal gland is formed at 49 days within the human embryo: the same time that Tibetans believe it takes for a soul to reincarnate. And the same amount of days that the human embryo becomes either male or female.
